Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities report that a former doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
