Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates features live text of Sunday's games via multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary is available through select stations for a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six of the NFL season , following last week's discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each lost their unbeaten records.
Notable during those contests was the number of penalties both committed. The Eagles did so in key moments meaning they kind of beat themselves after leading 17-3 entering the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this weekend.
But it was positive to see how Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to overcome the shortfall before lead three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, to win the game by four points.
The Broncos have the defensive player of the year in CB Pat Surtain II. They rank first in red zone defence, while the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos prevailed in that battle.
They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always sending extra pass rushers instead they could plug two LBs in the interior then drop them out and send a slot defender from the outside.
At the start in the campaign, it was noted on a program how the Broncos might emerge as the current year's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly then excelled of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?
Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has excelled big while new RB their rusher is a player they believe in. He's currently 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (over 400) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
It's impressive how head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
That shows how Denver are a squad aiming to prioritize the run, since you can do a lot based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush and keeps you in positive down and distances.
It's also helped QB Bo Nix, who entered into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they don't move the mobility as Nix. He boasts exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.
His assets include his mobility, being able to throw while moving, and using varied release points to make throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to throw precision throws across the middle or over the corner.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great poise under pressure and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He tries to evade a sack as much as possible and can pass in tight spots. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.
If you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and forces the defence to stay on the field extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must cover the field downfield and horizontally. This proves exhausting.
The quarterback has pushed back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think the coach likes that fire, that he's such a competitor. I think it's exciting for the coach to coach a young quarterback that is similar to moldable clay. He can really develop him how he desires to shape him. I think it's a special experience for the coach.
Payton has won a championship and has passed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. In my opinion the achievements Denver are experiencing offensively is mostly due to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with the QB helps shape him what he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and build self-belief.
I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.
Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're working above average, which is a good place to be in the AFC West. All they need to do is maintain this trajectory.
They're really good at leaning into their strength, which is running the ball, and that's precisely what they must do against the Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.
New York have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they are the sole squad yet to win any game.
Ever since the NFL began tracking takeaways in 1933, the Jets are the inaugural squad to go without any turnovers through five games, this is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
After this Sunday's game, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule until their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the West.
This hinges upon what version Kansas City shows up they face since Denver {beat|def
