New Particulars Come to Light About the Discovery of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the untimely demises of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account referencing a person close to the family, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after not being able to enter the residence. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
After gaining access to the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held and is ineligible for bail.
Correcting the Record
The anonymous source questioned several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
The source also disputed widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation also extends to accounts of alleged "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
