Our Task Is Exclusively Executing' - The Way Sudan's Vicious Militia Carried out a Massacre

Militiamen smirk as they travel on the back of a pick-up truck, speeding past a series of nine dead bodies and heading towards the setting Sudanese sunset.

"Look at such work. See this instance of ethnic cleansing," a combatant exclaims.

He grins as he turns the video equipment on his own face and his fellow fighters, their Rapid Support Forces insignia clearly shown: "These people shall all perish like this."

These individuals are celebrating a mass killing that relief organizations fear killed over thousands of civilians in the Sudanese city of al-Fashir in recent weeks.

A City Cut Off from the World

Having held the community under blockade for almost two years, from August the militia advanced to reinforce its position and restrict the surviving civilian population.

Satellite images demonstrate that troops started to erect a massive earth barrier - a raised dirt embankment - encircling the perimeter of the city, sealing off entry points and blocking aid.

During the encirclement worsened, 78 civilians were killed in an militia attack on a place of worship on mid-September, while the international organization reported fifty-three further were murdered in drone and heavy weapon attacks on a makeshift community in October.

At dawn on 26 October the RSF overwhelmed the last army defenses and captured the main headquarters in the city, the main facility of the Military Unit, as the army pulled back.

One of the most disturbing footage to appear and analysed revealed the aftermath of a atrocity at a university building on the western of the community, where scores lifeless forms were seen strewn throughout the area.

An elderly person dressed in a white tunic was seated isolated amongst the victims. He turned to gaze as a militiaman carrying with a rifle walked along the steps towards the individual. lifting his firearm, the fighter fired a one round at the man, who collapsed to the surface motionless.

"For what reason is this individual still living," another militiaman cried. "Execute him."

Orbital photography taken on late October indicated to confirm that executions were additionally conducted on the streets of the city, according to a report released by the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab.

One eyewitness who spoke stated he had witnessed "multiple of our kin being killed - the victims were assembled in a single location and everyone eliminated."

Militia Commanders Try to Carry Out Reputation Management
