The President Invites Loved Ones of Injured Guard Personnel to White House

Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Tragic Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Memorials across the state have been held in their honor.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told the press. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Support

Mourners gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to aid public safety in Washington DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“She was the type of pupil that educators desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” the principal, the principal of her previous school, told the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to help others.”

Funeral plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Government Revisions

Officials have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the administration to suspend asylum applications and cease granting entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor the governor said on television.

Attorney general the attorney general stated on a news show that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had bravery,” the governor told the gathering at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
