The Two Fatalities Revealed in the Providence Campus Incident as Law Enforcement Continue Search for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who were killed in Saturday’s tragic incident on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant carried on following the freeing by local law enforcement of the sole person of interest in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared condolences on social media, stating: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, family members said.

His name was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

Nine more persons were wounded in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a police operation at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”
