The visionary game developer, the mind behind the globally famous franchise Call of Duty, has tragically died in a traffic collision in California at the age of 55.

Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the development studio he co-founded.

The renowned video game developer died after his car crashed and was engulfed in flames on a highway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, as reported by.

"We are facing a heartbreaking loss, and our hearts are with his family and friends, those closest to him, and all those touched by his work," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
